Privacy Policy
InConversation ("we", "us", "the app") is a conversational support tool. This policy explains what data we collect, why, who we share it with, and your choices.
What we collect
- Account data — your email address, provided when you sign in with Apple or a magic link.
- Conversation data — the messages you send to the agents and the agents' replies, stored on our database so you can return to past sessions.
- Usage data — session timestamps, which agents you choose, daily check-ins, and the aggregated statistics shown on your stats page.
- Device data — basic technical info (OS version, app version) used only for debugging. No location, no contacts, no advertising identifiers, no health data.
Use of a third-party AI service (Anthropic)
The agents' responses are generated by Anthropic's Claude AI. To do this, the app sends the following data to Anthropic for each turn of conversation:
- The text of your most recent messages in the current session.
- A short summary of past conversations the user has elected to keep, if any.
- The agent's system prompt (the rules that shape its character).
We do not send Anthropic your email address, account ID, device identifiers, location, or anything else not directly part of the conversation.
Anthropic processes this data only to generate the response and, per their data-use policy, does not use API conversations to train their models by default. See Anthropic's privacy policy for full details.
Your consent. The first time you start a conversation, the app asks you to confirm you understand and agree to this data being shared with Anthropic. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account from the Me screen — once deleted, no further data is sent.
How we use the data
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To send your messages to Anthropic and return the agent's reply to you.
- To show you your own history, patterns, and stats.
- To fix bugs and improve the app.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with anyone outside the processors listed below.
Third-party processors
- Anthropic, PBC — Claude API. Receives the conversation text described above. Hosted in the United States. Privacy policy.
- Supabase, Inc. — Database and authentication. Stores your email, messages, and usage data. Hosted in the United States. Privacy policy.
- Resend, Inc. — Transactional email (sign-in magic links). Receives only your email address and the link content. Privacy policy.
- Vercel, Inc. — Hosting and content delivery. Standard server logs (IP, user agent) for traffic and security. Privacy policy.
Each of these processors is contractually bound to handle your data with at least the same protections described in this policy.
Your rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Me screen, or by emailing us at the address below. Deletion removes your profile, all messages, and all usage records. We'll action the request within 30 days.
Children
InConversation is rated 17+ and is not directed to children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Not a medical service
InConversation is a reflective companion, not a medical or therapeutic service. The agents are AI characters, not clinicians. If you are in crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis line (e.g. 988 in the US, 116 123 Samaritans in the UK).
Changes
If we change this policy materially, we'll notify you in-app before the change takes effect, and ask you to re-consent to any new data practices.
